Third Man Guitar Lesson + Other News
Before we get to guitar-related stuff today, let me point out a couple of things that I’ve been delinquent in posting.
First, we did not tell you about fellow COBRAS agent Wes Britton’s appearance on the Jordan Rich Show this past weekend, but fear not! The show has been archived for your listening pleasure. As Wes writes us:
If you missed Wes Britton’s interview with Jordon Rich on both WBZ and WCCO radio last Saturday night, it’s now posted at—
http://podcast.wbz.com/wbz/1651453.mp3
We talk about The Avengers, The Wild Wild West, The Saint, The Prisoner, Danger Man, U.N.C.L.E., Mission: Impossible—and all sorts of side-bars. Best of all—all the commercials ar edited out . . .
In addition, Wes also lets us know about an opportunity to purchase an album directly from spy guitar master Vic Flick (with whom we’re hoping to schedule an interview soon!):
For music lovers, at least those who love James Bond soundtracks, the name Vic Flick is very familiar to you. Well, we’ve just learned Amazon claims Vic’s great CD, James Bond Now, is not available. Well, it is—and you can get it autographed by the “guitarman” himself! (Guitarman is the name of Vic’s memoir that came out from Bear Manor Media last year—something for book and music aficionados alike!)
James Bond Now, a wonderful collection of Vic’s reworkings of classic Bond tunes along with original compositions, can be ordered from Vic himself for $15.00 including shipping and handling by E-mailing Vic direct at:

And you can find out more about Vic’s book by visiting—

Now! Onto the guitar lessons. I found these on YouTube while searching for the Crazy Rockers. I’ve always found it very difficult to play the Third Man Theme, because my fingerpicking technique is fairly poor. Seeing this video with tab alongside really helped me get the rhythms down. The tempo is slower than the actual song, and this is definitely a simplified version of Anton Karas’ very full sounding zither piece, but it should, if you are like me, be a much needed stepping stone.
It comes in two parts, the second of which teaches a technique that I’m still attempting to master myself. Thanks to YouTube poster / guitar maestro zeitfuertraeume for sharing:
And here’s a video from another YouTuber, a-then 11 year old named Sungha Jung, using a slightly different arrangement. Warning: this video might make you sick with envy.
