On the hunt for Mister 8

RIP Al Williamson

Sad news I’ve just turned up while doing my daily rounds of the news sites: legendary comic artist Al Williamson has passed away. This is perhaps a bit related to the previous post, as I feel Williamson had to be an influence on Hardman, though perhaps indirectly.

Williamson was perhaps best known for his work with sci-fi franchises Flash Gordon and Star Wars, but for our site, I wanted to share some pieces of art he did for the comic strip “Secret Agent Corrigan” (a continuation of the strip Secret Agent X-9, which he took over with writer Archie Goodwin from 1967-1980). The following all come from Comic Art Fans, an incredible site full of original artwork. Williamson’s work with Goodwin on “Secret Agent Corrigan” has been collected in the book X-9: Secret Agent Corrigan Volume 1
