Wow. Only one Helm a year? Christmas or not, I wouldn't/didn't have that restraint.

You are in for a treat over the next several holidays. Hamilton could spin a yarn, with enough "real life" details -- wait until you read his opinions on the usefulness of firearms -- to make me a critic of what doesn't seem realistic in other media.

Some of the stories show their age in some details, and Hamilton's choice of adversaries in the final books don't sit well with me -- hell, I got the next-to-the-last book soon after publication and still haven't completed it, and I didn't even know about the final book until last year -- but even those hang together, both in the action sequences and the overall plot.

And let's not forget xxx "Mac" xxx (I'll let you discover his name in due course)! Talk about a multitasker! In many ways, I prefer him to Helm. Agent Eric and "Mac" are among my all-time favorite fictional characters.

Cool site. Wish I'd stumbled across it much earlier. Consider it bookmarked.

Hamilton had a gift for adeptly referring to past adventures. He told the reader enough so they could enjoy the tale without having read the previous book. But if you had actually read the story referred to, it was quite enjoyable. Events from The Wrecking Crew would play a factor in The Vanishers, published in 1986. Also, you may enjoy The Removers whick, in one key chapter, provides a preview of Helm's opponents for multiple novels to come.
