This was the second John Drake comic published in the United States, after Dell Four Color #1231, which featured a Danger Man story. Though I own them both, I’ve chosen to highlight the Secret Agent issue because…well, because it seems the artist of this comic had photo reference so the images actually look like Patrick McGoohan. The Dell issue occasionally resembles McGoohan, but more than often looks like a generic Irishman, and a chubby one at that.
Art is listed on several websites as being by Bill Ligante. Writer unknown. Published in 1966.

There’s a second issue that followed this one, but I don’t have a copy. I’ll see if I can eBay one on the cheap in coming weeks.
I have this comic as well- great idea to post large scans for people to check out. I really love the way the texture patterns look at that size. Fantastic graphics! Thanks for posting this
Do you have The Avengers Gold Key comic? I’ve always wanted to pick it up, but it tends to be pricey.
Yeah, at $25 at cheapest, it’s a bit too much for me as well. With books like this, I tend to try to find reading copies…ones that have had something spilled on them, or have torn pages, or, in the case of one of my favorite quarter bin buys ever, someone has gone through and drawn over-sized crayon nipples on every appearance of Power Girl. I’m still browsing around for a cheap copy of Secret Agent #2. Hopefully, I’ll be able to find one.
I’m torn between scanning that Danger Man Dell 4-Color issue or writing up a complete history of Prisoner comics for next Monday. Any thoughts?
I’d love to see another issue- and then would be really interested in a history of Prisoner comics. Sounds like a fun project (and a fun read)!
